TO PAY TAXES ON THE WEBSITE

How do I search for my property?

You can search by entering your Block and Lot Number, Tax Account Number, Address or Name of Property Owner.

Can I Pay Delinquent Taxes?

Yes, your current payment will include any interest that is due on your account.  If you want to pay the delinquency on a later date, there is a tab on the same line as “Make a Payment,” that says “Project Interest.”  A calendar will pop-up and you can choose the date that you want to make payment.  It will then calculate the interest to that date.

Can I pay my taxes prior to the due date?

Yes, as long as the billing is shown on the website.

Can I set up my payments to be automatically paid each billing quarter in advance?

No, the system does not have the ability to accept future payments, other than what is currently due.  If you want to pay more than one quarter and the billing is shown on the website, you may do that.

Is there a convenience fee for paying online?

Yes, there are fees associated with paying your bill online. If you pay by ACH (Automatic Clearing House) or e-check via your checking account, there is a $1.05 convenience fee.  The fee for debit and credit card payments will be approximately 2.95% of your total bill. The exact fee will be calculated after you enter your payment information, but before you submit the payment. (SCREENSHOT of Payment Confirmation)

I usually pay my bill by mailing a check.  Can I still do that?

Yes, you can pay your bill by mailing a check in with the payment stub.

I usually pay my bill in person.  Can I still do that?

The office is currently closed to the public due to the Coronavirus pandemic.  However, you can place a payment in the Town of Clinton drop box, located behind the finance building on the right when you pull into the driveway at 43 Leigh Street.  The box is a freestanding black mailbox with “Town of Clinton Drop Box” on it.

TO PAY UTILITY BILLS ON THE WEBSITE

I entered my account number, but “No search results” appeared?

All utility (water and sewer) accounts were assigned new numbers in January 2020 because the billing software was upgraded to a new program. Please be sure that you are using this new number, including the -0 at the end. (SCREENSHOT with account number search area)

  • If you don’t know the new number, you can find it by searching by property address.  (SCREENSHOT with property address search)
  • If you live in the Town of Clinton, you will have two accounts, one for your water account and one for your sewer account.  Please be sure to use the correct number for each account.

I entered my last name in the search field and my account did not come up?

The billing software lists property owners by {first name  last name}.  The easiest way to search is by account number. (SCREENSHOT with account number) If you don’t know your account number, you can search by property address. Why does my address appear twice in the search results?

If you live in the Town of Clinton there will be 2 accounts for your property address, one for water and one for sewer.

Please be sure that you select the correct account to pay. Once you submit the payment it won’t be possible to change the account that should be credited.  If you do not live in the Town of Clinton, your address will appear only once, for your water account. (You can have a Clinton address, but still not live in the Town of Clinton.)
