Councilman John Kashwick

Councilman Kashwick serves on the following Committees/Boards:

  • Police Building Committee
  • Water Committee

John Kashwick was elected to the Clinton Council in 2022. He previously served as a Councilman in the Borough of Closter for nine years (2006-2014). 

Before being elected Councilman in Clinton, John was the chair of the Clinton Shade Tree Commission and a member of the Environmental Commission. 

John remains involved with several environmental groups outside the Council. He is the Chair of the NJ Sierra Club’s Legislative Committee and participates on the Northeast Regional Council of the National Parks Conservation Association. He is also a volunteer for the Clinton Conservancy Gardens. Professionally, John worked in Finance for a major media company for over 20 years and currently works on a Technology team using his financial experience on a systems conversion project. He plans to retire later this year. 

John received his MS in Accounting from Fairleigh Dickinson University, an MA in Environmental Management from Montclair State University, and a BA in Communications from Ramapo College. He and his husband live in town with their two dogs. They enjoy traveling, hiking, cooking, gardening, and reading.
