Investigation Division

The primary mission of the Investigation Division is to actively investigate crimes and offenses, which occur within the Town of Clinton and insure that justice is obtained on behalf of the victims. The detective assigned to the division conducts follow-up investigations and initiates criminal investigations through the use of informants and other investigative tools. The division is also responsible for juvenile, firearms applicant, alcohol beverage regulatory and employment background investigations. The division works closely with neighboring police agencies as well as county, state and federal law enforcement agencies.

BEWARE OF SCAMS

Across the state there has been an increase in scams designed to trick you into handing over your hard earned cash. Scammers use tricks and often times are very convincing. The scammers may even impersonate your loved ones. Often times they play on your emotions, and insist that you send money or other forms of payment right away. In some instances, the scammers may even come to your house!

Never give cash, checks, gift cards, Google Play, Money Gram, Western Union, bank account numbers or any other personal information to a stranger. We have had Clinton residents give away 10’s of thousands of $$$ to these scams.  Do not act impulsively and be sure to verify who you are talking to and what they are telling you. Be aware this is not a complete list of the tactic’s that criminals use, they are always thinking of new ways to steal your hard earned money. Some examples of SCAMS we regularly receive in Clinton;

  • IRS Scams
    • The IRS will not call you and demand money over the phone, they will not threaten you with arrest over the phone!
  • Social Security
    • They will not call and tell you you’re in violation or your SSN was stolen. Lately they have been calling, leaving a message and asking you to return their call before action has to be taken.  ALL SCAMS!
  • Bail Scam
    • These low life’s will call you and tell you a relative has been arrested and request you send money ASAP, before your relative/friend is thrown in jail, SCAM!
  • Seeds in Mail
    • Yes, weird things are happening.  Seeds from China are not good, DO NOT EAT, DO NOT GROW.  Call us.
