Public Works Laborer (Sewer) – The Town of Clinton (Hunterdon County) is seeking a FT individual to assist in the operation, maintenance and repair within the Department of Public Works, Division of Sewer.  Under supervision, the successful applicant will install, maintain, and repair sewer mains, valves, pumps, and other sewer service equipment located at the Town’s Waste Water Treatment Plant or other above-ground/under-ground sewer infrastructure, laboratory sampling and testing of treatment processes, and any other duties as assigned.  Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license and have clean driving history.  A minimum of a high school diploma (or equivalent), as well as the ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform duties of this position is required.  Knowledge and experience with the various types of tools used in maintenance and repair of sewage treatment equipment preferred.  40-hour per week, Union position with a starting salary of $23.21.  This position requires the applicant to be available to work 24 hours a day, seven days per week as the need arises.  Applicants should submit a completed employment application to Richard Phelan, Administrator at 43 Leigh Street, Clinton, NJ 08809 or via e-mail at rphelan@clintonnj.gov. Public Works Laborer (Water/Roads) - The Town of Clinton (Hunterdon County) is seeking FT individual to assist in with operation, maintenance and repair within the Department of Public Works, Division of Water and Roads. Under supervision, the successful applicants will perform tasks, including but not limited to facility maintenance, repair roads and storm, water basins, mow lawns, snow plowing, install, maintain, and repair water mains, valves, pumps, hydrants, and other water service equipment, as well as reading water meters, and any other duties as assigned.  Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license and have clean driving history (CDL is a plus).  A minimum of a high school diploma (or equivalent), as well as the ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform duties of this position is required.  Knowledge and experience with the varieties types of tools used in maintenance and repair of water treatment equipment, road maintenance equipment and facility/grounds maintenance is preferred.  This position requires the applicant to be available to work 24 hours a day, seven days per week as the need arises.  Union position with staring salary of $22.05 - $23.21/hour depending on CDL status. CROSSING GUARD

Description of duties: A 60 minute crossing post in the morning prior to school starting and a 60 minute crossing post in the afternoon when school concludes, only during school days.

  1. Crossing guards are appointed for a one (1) year period and that appointment may be revoked without cause or hearing. Crossing guards are part-time employees.  No person shall be appointed as a Crossing Guard unless such person is sound in body, of good health and has not been convicted of any criminal offense involving moral turpitude.
  2. During the hiring of Town of Clinton Crossing Guards, a preference will be given to Town of Clinton residents.
  3. Prior to appointment, a medical certification will be required as to your fitness for the position.  This certification will be attached to the application.
  4. Prior to appointment, a complete and thorough Background Investigation shall be conducted on all Crossing Guard applicants.

These are the basic physical requirements for the position:

  1. Ability to stand for between one and two hours at a time.
  2. Ability to lift and hold in position a STOP paddle weighing approximately one pound while holding the opposite hand in an upright, raised position.
  3. Ability to walk, unassisted, across street numerous times.
  4. Ability to walk fast or run in emergency situation.
  5. Ability to raise both feet to step over curb.
  6. Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
